Police have released the name of a cyclist killed south of Whangarei at the weekend.
Francis Pinson, 66, of Auckland, died when the bicycle he was riding collided with a four wheel-drive vehicle driven by a 38-year-old woman from Maungaturoto.
The woman's five children were in her vehicle when it rolled during the accident, but all escaped with minor injuries.
The accident happened at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Doctors' Hill Rd, at Ruakaka, 29km southeast of Whangarei, just before 11am on Sunday.
