Firefighters extinguished a blaze in a four-storey city building this morning.
The fire broke out on the second floor of a building on Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch.
A Southern Fire Communications spokesman said crews were sent to the fire, near the Lincoln Road intersection, at about 6.10am.
Six appliances were at the scene at the height of firefighting efforts before the blaze was put out.
The Fire Service said nobody was injured in the incident.
The cause of the fire was now being investigated.
