Former House of Travel chief executive Kevin Kenrick has been appointed chief executive of Television New Zealand.
The appointment ends five months of uncertainty for the state broadcaster since chief executive Rick Ellis announced he was leaving the company to work for Australia's Telstra.
TVNZ Chairman, Sir John Anderson said today (Tuesday) that Kenrick will take up the position in the middle of May.
Kenrick is a well known New Zealand business figure who has held a number of senior roles in some of New Zealand's largest companies, including Lion Nathan, Telecom New Zealand, and most recently, House of Travel, which he headed up from 2008 to 2011.
Before that he held a number of senior management roles with Telecom from 1999 till 2007, including, sales and marketing manager for Xtra and chief operating officer for the retail business division.
Anderson is leaving this month after extending his term to find a new chief executive for the company.
