Fuel prices fall

Two major oil companies have dropped fuel prices by 3 cents a litre for petrol and 2 cents for diesel.

Motorists will now be paying $2.14.9c a litre for 91 unleaded petrol and $1.54.9c for diesel at BP and Z stations.

BP spokesman Jonty Mills said it was the second time within a week prices had been dropped.

"Over the last week we've seen a steady decline in the refined product prices and at the same time the New Zealand dollar has remained strong - and both those factors have meant a drop in prices."

But he said the market was still unpredictable.

Last month the price for regular petrol reached a high of $2.229c.

Z Energy's spokeswoman Sheena Thomas said prices were driven by the international price of petrol and diesel.
