A man has been charged with arson in relation to the fire at the Auckland electorate office of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

Detective Inspector Karen Bright said the 24-year-old man will appear in the Manukau District Court on Thursday.

Noone else was being sought, she said.

Police were called to the scene on Millhouse Drive in Botany yesterday morning after a person nearby heard a loud bang.

Police cordoned off the building.

A spokesperson for Luxon said no staff were harmed in the incident.
