A man charged over a 44-hour armed stand-off with police will represent himself in court because he doesn't trust Legal Aid.
Christopher Dean Binse, 43, told Melbourne Magistrates Court today he would run his own defence on 11 charges stemming from the alleged stand-off and a separate alleged armed robbery.
"I don't have much faith, confidence (in Legal Aid)," he said.
"The advice I've had (from them) was not the advice I expected."
Police used tear gas and several rounds of bean-bag pellets to arrest Binse outside a Keilor East home in May after he allegedly armed himself and held them at bay for two nights.
He is also facing charges relating to an alleged armed hold-up on two guards outside a Melbourne gambling venue.
Binse, who has not yet entered a plea, stood in the dock surrounded by four police officers for the brief court hearing.
He submitted a witness list containing over 100 names but was told by Magistrate Charles Rozencwajg he must outline how each witness is relevant by his next court appearance.
Binse will reappear in court for a committal mention on November 12.
