Man critical after Chch shooting

A 24-year-old man is critically ill after being shot in the chest in Christchurch last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Harvey said shots were heard at a house in suburban Woolston about 11.30pm. The injured man was taken to hospital by an associate.

The shooting followed an earlier incident at another Woolston address, which led to windows being broken and offenders leaving in a red Mazda Astina.

The car was later found burned out in Marine Parade, New Brighton.

"Police are conducting an investigation into the injuries sustained by the 24-year-old male," Mr Harvey said.

"They are also conducting scene examinations at all three scenes and would like any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Christchurch Central on phone (03) 363 7620."
