A homicide investigation is under way after a man was killed in Lower Hutt last night.
Emergency services responded to an incident in High Street, Taita about 8pm.
Police were still in the area this morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said police were speaking to people from the house where the man's body was found.
"This is a busy street and there were a lot of vehicles and persons around the area at the time.
''I am appealing to any persons who may have observed the incident at an address on High Street, near the Taita shops, or who may have seen any suspicious activity, to contact Police," Det Snr Sgt McKee said.
Police asked any witnesses to call Wellington Police on 04 3812000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
