A missing paddleboarder has been found after a search around a Cook Strait beach.
Police central communications shift commander Marty Parker said the man's board was spotted at about 5.30pm, washed up in Houghton Bay on Wellington's south coast.
Police deployed a maritime unit and several other officers scoured the shoreline.
Mr Parker understood a Westpac rescue helicopter crew spotted the man on rocks at 6.04pm.
"He was cold but otherwise appears okay."
The man was taken to hospital for a check-up.
