A 50-year-old woman has drowned at a Nelson beach today, say police.
Emergency services were advised that a woman had been swept away in the current of the blind channel at Parkers Cove, Tahunanui, about 6.50pm, said Sergeant Shane Miles of Nelson police.
T he surf rescue boat found her body some distance offshore near Monaco about 40 minutes later.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
