Firefighters say a scrub fire in Omapere in the Far North is now under control.
The fire which started in a field behind the Omapere Fire station at 2.55pm spread quickly up the hill.
The Fire Service says no homes were threatened by the blaze which quickly grew to the size of a football field.
By 3.45pm the blaze was under control with a small area still burning.
