One person is dead after their car crashed into a parked vehicle on a rural road near Timaru today.
Police said the driver died after their car hit a parked vehicle on Beaconsfield Rd shortly after midday.
No other vehicles were involved, police said.
Beaconsfield Rd has been cordoned off while police conduct a scene examination to establish the cause of the crash.
The Canterbury police serious crash investigation team was also in attendance.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
