One person has died in a two-vehicle crash in Templeton, Christchurch, this morning.
Canterbury Police said the 64-year-old driver and sole occupant of a red Mazda Eunos was confirmed as deceased at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a silver Nissan Sunny, has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
The crash occurred on State Highway 73, or West Coast Rd, a short distance west of the intersection with Miners Rd shortly after 7.30am.
Police said witnesses had reported the two vehicles collided as the Mazda attempted to perform a U-turn.
Both vehicles had been travelling west-bound prior to the crash.
Police said the death has been referred to the Coroner, and the road has now reopened.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the crash or the two vehicles before the collision.
