Police are warning motorists of black ice on the Rimutaka Hill Road north of Wellington this morning.
Central communications centre spokesman Sergeant Andy Dow said emergency services had attended a crash on State Highway 2 north of Upper Hutt.
Mr Dow said there had been reports of black ice between Upper Hutt and Featherston overnight.
"We ask that you drive with care and on these chilly winter mornings drive to the conditions."
