Road to reopen after logging truck crash

Contractors are close to clearing the Napier-Taupo Road this morning after a logging truck earlier rolled, spilling logs across the road and a nearby railway line.

State Highway 5 was closed by Ellis Wallace Rd, about 25km from Napier, as emergency services dealt with the crash, which happened about 3.50am.

About 7am Napier police said the road was expected to open "any time soon".

There appeared to be no other vehicles involved. The driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
