An Auckland man, who has admitted a raft of charges after taking advantage of the strict Indian upbringing of six young women, will stay in prison until he is sentenced next year.
The 25-year-old man, who has name suppression, was due to be sentenced today on some of the charges after a jury found him guilty in August in the Auckland District Court.
However, guilty pleas were entered to the balance of the charges and he will now be sentenced on all 49 charges in March.
He was found guilty in August of six rape charges, and not guilty of one rape charge but guilty of an alternative count of sexual connection with a young person.
He was also found guilty of five charges of blackmail, five of unlawful detention, six of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection and one of attempted sexual connection.
The rape charges related to four of the six complainants, most of whom the man met via internet networking sites, where they had posted their profiles. The jury heard they were manipulated into having sex with him.
The age of the women ranged from 15 to 22.
