Snorkelling death investigated

Police are investigating the death of a 53-year-old Masterton man while snorkelling near White Rock, on the South Wairarapa coast, yesterday afternoon.

Sergeant Mike Sutton said the man was snorkelling with a family member, and was already dead when he was pulled from the water.

The incident was reported at about 3pm.

It's the second public holiday drowning in Wairarapa this month, after a 22-year-old Fijian man drowned while swimming at Akitio beach on Easter Monday.
