Trio survive Waikato River crash

A third person who was missing after a car crashed into the Waikato River last night has been found.

Police pulled two people from the water with moderate injuries, but another person was seen swimming away from them after the crash in the suburb of Fairfield about 11.30pm.

The third person, male was found more than two hours later still in the water by the river bank following a co-ordinated search by police, a harbour master boast and the Fire Service.

He had hypothermia but otherwise uninjured.
