Write to Santa, postage free

Santa Claus and his elves are ready and waiting. All they need is your gift requests.

NZ Post is helping Santa by allowing children (naughty or nice) to post their letters to him  free.

NZ Post spokeswoman Tina Morgan said writing to the jolly man was a family tradition for many Kiwi families, and helped teach children the value of goodwill and selfless giving.

She said NZ Post received tens of thousands of letters from children all over New Zealand each year.

In more recent times, an interactive website (www.nzpost.co.nz/writetosanta) had been set up so children could make and send digital postcards.

"Children can drag and drop their favourite items — from fairy lights, milk and cookies, to presents and lots more — to make their Christmas postcards to Santa special.

"Santa’s ready and waiting and looking forward to a snow-covered letterbox stuffed with mail."

She said no stamp was required and the address for letters to be sent was: Santa Claus, c/- Santa’s Workshop, North Pole 0001.

"Please ensure your full name, address, and post code are on the back of your envelope."

While there was no guarantee children would get what they asked for, Santa would send a response to all letters sent by December 7 and digital postcards sent by December 3, she said.
