It has been nine years in the making, but finally Sydney's Taronga Zoo has some baby Meerkats.

The pups, named Zanzibar and Nairobi are 4 weeks old, and made their first public appearance yesterday.

Their sex will be established at eight weeks when they have their first vaccinations and veterinary examination.
