UK parliament expenses snitch speaks out

The man who leaked details of British lawmakers to a newspaper says he was angry that British troops in the front line did not have adequate equipment.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper reports in its Friday edition that the man, who has not been identified, worked as part of team employed to deal with expense forms. The man said some off-duty soldiers who were moonlighting as security guards to earn money to pay for their body armor and boots were furious when they heard details of the claims.

The details of lawmakers expenses leaked earlier this year revealed that some legislators had manipulated rules to furnish or upgrade homes, avoid taxes or buy extravagant items. The news triggered a scandal that rocked Britain's political establishment.
