Lautenschlager is seeking his fourth win on end.
He will again be ridden by Chris Johnson, who won the final two races at Otaki on Thursday.
Johnson rode Lautenschlager to an impressive last-start win in a rating 85 2200m on a heavy track at Wingatui on June 1.
He settled well off the pace and sustained a searching finish to race clear of his rivals.
He had won over 2000m at Gore at his two previous starts.
A bold effort is expected from the top weight Envy Me, who will race in blinkers.
Brian Hibberd, who has won six races on the mare, is back in the saddle tomorrow.
Envy Me won over 2100m on a slow track at Ashburton in July last year.
Opie Bosson, the Matamata jockey, will make the trip to Ashburton to ride the two members of the Mark Walker stable.
Bosson has not ridden in the South Island since last season at Ashburton.
Bosson said his best ride should be the Walker-trained 2yr-old Citi de Lago in race two.
He will also ride Wild Cat for Walker in race four.
Bosson has taken the mounts on the Mike and Paul Moroney-trained runners River Card (race one), and Walkingonthemoon (race five).
He is also on the in-form Pam Gerard-trained Mr Niceguy in race six.
Citi de Lago followed up two second placings with a two and a-quarter length win over 1200m in a 2yr-old race at Riccarton on June 27 at his last start.
Malaysian apprentice Zman Zulkifli is down to have his first raceday rides at Ashburton tomorrow.
Zulkifli will ride Sunkai and La Barma Belle for his employer, Wingatui trainer Terry Kennedy, and Haal Mary for Wayne Stevens.
Jockey Robert Thompson continued his march to the Australian riding record when he won half of the eight-race programme at Grafton on Thursday, AAP reports.
The 50-year-old, who recorded his first win at Wyong in 1973, is now 10 wins short of the record of 3322 set by Jack Thompson (no relation), who retired in 1980.
The four wins followed doubles at Port Macquarie on Saturday and Muswellbrook on Monday by Thompson.
