Public submissions for plans to construct an entertainment centre near Wanaka Airport will be opened by the Queenstown Lakes District Council tomorrow.
Submissions will be received by Lakes Environmental Ltd on behalf of the QLDC.
If granted resource consent, the entertainment centre and holiday park will be constructed 9km from Wanaka township on the corner of Mount Barker Rd and Wanaka-Luggate Highway.
The complex will feature an outdoor kart track, an eight-lane indoor tenpin bowling alley and an indoor bar and restaurant dining facility.
The application is being made by the family trust of former Invercargill businessman Ross Young and his wife, Judy, who have both retired to Wanaka.
The land is owned by the applicants and consists of open pasture, grazed by sheep.
The project is being managed by their son, Eamon Young, the former manager of Crown Sheet Metal in Invercargill.
Mr Young has been working on the trust's Wanaka proposal full-time for at least a year.
Hours of operation for the proposed complex will be from 9am till 10pm for outdoor activities and 9am till midnight for indoor activities.
Written submissions to the consent authority can be made until November 12, 2010.
A full copy of the application file can be viewed at Lakes Environmental, 74 Shotover St, Queenstown.
