Christmas has come a lttle bit early for a keen young Dunedin fisherman who landed his first ever salmon today.
Dragus Chulis (9) hooked the 13lb fish off the wharf in the upper harbour and played it for about 15 minutes before landing it, with a little help from a local, proud mum Anna Johnson said.
Dragus, who goes to Bradford School, ''lives for fishing'', his mum said, and he was ''absolutely buzzing'' about his catch today.
She said at times they stayed out till up to 2am catching sprats in order to catch salmon.
''The late nights have paid off today, that's for sure.''
