The Vincent Cricket competitions resumed after the holiday break with Queenstown Wakatipu getting up over its stablemate Queenstown Ballarat, Maniototo accounting for Albion at Luggate, while Cromwell travelled to Poolburn and beat the home side, Blacks Hill.
On the No1 ground at the Queenstown Events Centre on Saturday, the young Wakatipu side scored 131 for eight wickets, with Jordan Gibbons making 31 and Regan McIntyre 22.
Harry Gadd, with four for 20 off his four overs, was the standout with the ball.
In reply, the Ballarat side was in with a good chance but fell seven runs short of victory, ending on 135 for eight. Ed Keen made 48 and Alex Coates 33.
Om Alva took three for 22.
Maniototo made the trek to Luggate where it completed an eight-wicket win after the home side, Albion, batted first and was dismissed for 115.
Blane Wagner, with 43, did his best to post a score the home bowlers could attack. He was ably supported by Tim Cotter with 23.
Ryan Becker, with four for 13, took the initiative away from the home side. He had great support from Sam Miller, who took three for 17.
The visiting side made light work of the target, losing just two wickets. Sam Pringle top-scored with 42 and a fine 39 not out from Royce Hill got Maniototo across the line.
Cromwell travelled to Poolburn and had first use of the conditions. It posted an impressive 161 for the loss of seven. Captain Ross Anderson top-scored with 56 not out and SS Singh hit an unbeaten 49.
Andy Singh took three for 17 off four overs and Luke Duncan took two for 25 off his four.
Blacks Hill, in reply, was always on the back foot with only veteran Cam Nicolson (17) and Dave Reinds (34) getting any scores of note, and was all out for 103.
SS Singh completed a great day, taking four for 11 from four overs, and Regan Hucklebridge took three for 29.
