
The youth category was won by Abby Golden (17), of Alexandra.
The judges said her leadership at Dunstan High School and in the local community showed she had a genuine commitment to making a difference in other people's lives.
Abby was an inspirational and exemplary role model, the judges said.
Finlay Russel (17), of Clyde, received a highly commended award in the youth category, for her outstanding services to community, including as a firefighter.
Misha's Vineyard in Bendigo won the Business Excellence Award.
Judges described the vineyard business as "a textbook case of excellent business practice, essentially faultless".
Owners Misha and Andy Wilkinson had a "no compromises" approach to their highly successful, world-class viticulture business, the judges said.
Community service award recipients Barry Becker, of Oturehua, Rose Jefcoate, of Alexandra, Brigette Paterson and Alex Gordon, both of Roxburgh, were presented with their awards at last night's ceremony.
Central Otago District Council regional identity manager Shirley Howden said they were "remarkable people" who had "given so much over decades - it is simply who they are and what they do".
"Their commitment and love for their communities demonstrates that Central Otago is in very good heart," Ms Howden said.
Winner of the young professional award, Annabel Bulk, of Bannockburn, was presented with her award last night.
The viticulturalist who works for Felton Wine was a "wine industry rising star".
The two-yearly Central Otago Awards were an opportunity to celebrate how people were making a difference and "achieving great things" both in business and in the community, Ms Howden said.
"It's been wonderful to once again honour and celebrate our local people who are adding real value to our communities through their excellent achievements."
