Comeback for Adams

Shot putter Lisa Adams has come out of retirement to represent New Zealand at the world para championships in India next month.

Adams, who retired in April last year, will line up in the women’s F37 shot put. She previously won two world titles, gold at the Tokyo Paralympics and holds the F37 world record. Joe Smith is another new addition and will race in the men’s F37 100m.

Dunedin duo Holly Robinson and Anna Grimaldi had already booked their spot in the 10-strong team. Robinson will compete in the women’s F46 shot put, while Grimaldi is racing in the women’s T47 100m and 200m events. The championships will be held in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5. — Allied Media
