Independents named for NZRL board

Three new independent directors have been appointed to the New Zealand Rugby League (NZRL) board.

John Bishop, Scott Carter and Peter Drummond fill the vacancies created late last year when Glenda Hughes, Simon Doig and Eddie Mathews stepped down.

NZRL chairman Ray Haffenden today said the board was impressed by the overall calibre of candidates.

John Bishop, an accountant, has a background in the insurance and finance sectors.

Carter is the chairman of the New Zealand Security Association and has been chairman of Eventing New Zealand.

Peter Drummond is chairman of Appliance Connexion Ltd, a home appliance and electronics buying group.
