An 18-year-old man is facing a range of charges including indecent assault in relation to an incident in Alexandra last night which left a woman needing treatment for injuries.
The man was arrested after he was stopped near Queenstown early today, Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw said.
He has been charged with aggravated burglary, indecent assault, possession of an offensive weapon and driving with excessive breath alcohol.
He appeared in the Queenstown District Court today and was remanded without plea in custody until tomorrow for a bail application. Interim name suppression was granted.
A Central Otago woman was treated for minor injuries and was receiving ongoing support, Det Sgt Shaw said.
"I can assure the community that this was an isolated incident and the early resolution of it has been as a result of excellent cooperation between the police and the public," he said.
