V6 "Six Shooters" fly around the Central Motor Speedway in Cromwell on Saturday to open the track’s season.

Track president Daryl Ainsley said the event attracted about 500 to 600 spectators.

"We’re pretty pleased with that. It’s definitely good for our first weekend."

Viewers were treated to six classes of cars carving up the track’s dirt surface.

The big event of the season would be the New Zealand Super Saloons Title in January, Mr Ainsley said.
