Frontline staff role for sergeant

Alexandra's newest sergeant is looking forward to a role change, after being involved with the Central Otago CIB since 2001.

Sergeant Ian Kerrisk, who until this month had been a detective, said working with the Alexandra police station's frontline staff would be an interesting development in his career.

"I know Alexandra and its dynamics and I'm really looking forward to helping the town alongside our frontline staff. Fundamentally, we are all police officers doing the same job but this role will be a refreshing change."

Sgt Kerrisk (45) is filling a vacancy at the Alexandra station, created when Sergeant Andy Reed became acting supervisor for the newly-formed Community Action Team.

Officer in charge of Central Otago Senior Sergeant Mike Cook said Sgt Kerrisk was the right man for the job.

"He brings a very wide range of experience to the position and has an extensive investigative background. He has high standards and was selected out of a nationally advertised vacancy which shows the strengths he has," Snr Sgt Cook said.

Sgt Kerrisk became a police officer in 1981 and joined the Alexandra team in 2001.
