A man (60) has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a truck and falling into a pit in Cromwell.
A police spokeswoman said emergency services were notified about the incident at the Cromwell transfer station on Barry Ave just before 11.30am.
The man had a possible head injury and broken leg, but the injuries were not life threatening, she said.
Work Safe was to be notified about the incident.
