Clare Mulholland donated the gear in memory of her late husband John, who was an avid curler and the treasurer of New Zealand Curling.
Mr Mulholland was also one of the founding fellows of the indoor rink in Naseby.
Mrs Mulholland said she saw the donation of the helmets as a further investment in the participation and the development of the sport in the area.
Safety of the children as they took the ice was important to her as well as Maniototo Adventure Park where the indoor curling rink is located.
"So I just thought that John would be very happy to have helped provide the helmets that are now needed specifically for the children to curl."
As well as helmets Mrs Mulholland used some of the funds from the sale of the farm she and her husband worked on to give an indoor curling set from Canada to the schools of Ranfurly as well sponsoring lessons at the rink during the winter.
Mrs Mulholland said she hoped to continue supporting the schools with their curling and also hoped to expand to help other schools in Central Otago as well.
Maniototo Adventure Park operations manager Janet Steele said as the park was trying to foster and encourage children into curling, their health and safety was paramount.
"We're encouraging all the kids to bring their own helmets, and we don't want it to be detrimental to anyone that doesn't have a helmet. "
The donation meant a significant difference to the park as now the up to 40 children who would take to the ice to curl would have proper protective equipment and without having to worry about missing out, she said.
