More than $21,000 was awarded to organisations from Central Otago and the Queenstown-Lakes district by the Central Otago freemasons in Alexandra yesterday.
The Otago Masonic Charitable Trust Central Otago sub-branch gave seven organisations funding for various causes.
The Teviot Valley Rest Home received the most funding, at $6258, to complete a purchase of electric beds and special mattresses for all its residents.
Rest-home governing committee chairman Alex Gordon said they were at maximum occupancy with 14 residents and needed three more beds.

Friends of Dunstan Hospital $6106.60, Wanaka Community Toy Library $3143.36, Wakatipu Yacht Club $3000, Central Otago Riding for the Disabled $1800, Omakau and Districts Playcentre $500 and Alexandra Rural Community Patrol $200.
