Two people are in custody after armed police were called to a Cromwell house over a suspected drugs laboratory.
Multiple police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance arrived at the Blyth St house about 8.30am this morning.
Communicating via megaphone, officers asked a person inside the house to come out after a woman was escorted out.
A search of the property found there was no clandestine lab, but a 34 year-old man had been arrested for possession of methamphetamine and utensils, Southern Police said.
A woman had also been taken into custody for questioning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Blackie, of Alexandra, said it was a great result when a search uncovered no sign of a clandestine lab, as this showed there was no risk to nearby residents.
"We take all relevant precautions when it comes to acting on information around alleged clandestine operations and, in this case, we are pleased with the result," he said.
