There will be plenty of roadworks being carried out in Central Otago over the next few months.
The amount of work is just slightly less than last year’s bumper season, the largest on Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes district highways in many years, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says.
Overall, there is 57km of resealing starting on November 6 through until December 20. Work will restart on January 22 to the end of February next year across the two districts.
There is a reconstruction project on State Highway8 at Blue Gums, near Tarras, south of the SH8/8A intersection. It is scheduled to start this month to early October.
Work will be done on SH6 at Wye Creek next month and near Chard Rd in February-March.
Two other projects will be carried out on SH6.
One is from Kawarau Gorge through to east of the Crown Range intersection and another at the Woolshed Rd intersection, near Jacks Point.
A third culvert replacement will be undertaken in Roxburgh from early next month along with the Black Jack Creek site on SH8.
This will lead to an eight-day full road detour from Millers Flat to Roxburgh.
