Trust chairwoman Linda Robertson said Mr Flood replaced Hetty van Hale, who had stepped down after two terms.
Mr Flood had been an independent member of the trust’s investment committee since 2022 and committee chairman since 2023, she said.
He had more than 25 years experience in global investment management including roles in London, Hong Kong and Singapore, she said.
Ms Robertson said Ms van Hale was an exceptional leader and dedicated advocate for the community.
"Her vision and unwavering commitment have had a profound impact, and we are deeply grateful for her mahi and the positive changes she has driven over her two terms."
Mr Flood said he was looking forward to being more involved in trust operations.
Ms Robertson said his appointment followed a robust, externally facilitated selection process that attracted a strong field of candidates.
