Winners of the People’s Choice float for three years, the grans recently visited the trust’s base at Taieri Aerodrome to donate their prize and to see the trust’s work up close.
The group decided to give their winnings to the trust after two of its members used the service with in the space of a week earlier this year.
Grans Who Can founder Laurie Paterson said it was important to give back after the service saved the life of one of the group’s members.
"[Making a float] is just a fun thing to do and just a bonus we have money to donate." she said.
Fellow gran Vyvienne Weller said it was always great to take part in the festival, but the group really loves to give back as well and to give to groups that the whole community benefits from.
Alexandra Blossom Festival chairwoman Sharleen Stirling-Lindsay said it was fantastic the grans donated their winnings.
"We love that the Alexandra Blossom Festival is able to support clubs, community and other groups to be able to help make a difference in our area," she said.
