The East Otago Health Trust has received a larger-than-expected donation of $20,800 from the Golden Fleece Hotel's Good Samaritan club at Waikouaiti.
The donation had increased from $12,500 because the initial price estimates for furnishing the Waikouaiti Health Centre were too low, Dr Don McKirdy, of the East Otago Health Centre, said yesterday.
The health centre has recently opened in the new East Otago Events and Cultural Centre in Waikouaiti.
The equipment purchased with the donation includes an examination bed which can be raised and lowered electrically, an LCD television and DVD player, an oxygen trolley, screens, furniture, chairs, tables and desks for the health centre office and waiting area, curtains and blinds, wall and ceiling mounted halogen lamps in the examination room.
