About 200 entry forms have been sent out for the Oamerican Car Show in Oamaru in February and organisers are urging people to get in early, especially local American car enthusiasts.
Organised in conjunction with the Weston Progress League by American car owners Jayne Jackson, Barry Sinclair and Wayne Sinclair, it has also attracted principal sponsorship from Mathers Jewellery and Time Ltd, along with strong support from other Oamaru businesses.
Ms Jackson said the event could bring more than 400 American cars ranging from hot-rods to classics and modern models to Oamaru from February 9 to 12.
"We have received a number of entries to date and lots and lots of inquiries but would really encourage people wanting to take part to get their entries in as soon as possible so that we can confirm catering arrangements and activities," she said.
The Oamerican Car Show is a four-day event, starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday. Events have been planned to give the public plenty of chances to see the cars.
The event has the support of Waitaki event development officer Jan Kennedy, who complimented the small but very hard working voluntary committee trying to bring the Oamerican Car Show to the district. It could become an annual event.
