It has now raised the full $32.84 million needed for stage one which includes the event centre itself.
Trust chairman Kevin Malcolm said now the attention would turn to funding stage two - the grandstand.
The goal was for the fundraising to be far enough along so the contractors could begin stage two immediately after finishing stage one, he said.
Mr Malcolm hoped the grandstand could be completed in time for the Heartland Championship season next year.
In the meantime, construction of the event centre continues to charge on. With about 50 people working on site each day, the build was progressing quickly, Mr Malcolm said.
‘‘The pace is quite phenomenal.
‘‘There were a few doubters we’d ever get things done on time but we’ve got a deadline for February 26 and stage one will be completed and ready to be handed over to us then.
‘‘Progress is magnificent, really.’’
The trust had received more monetary support with Milligans Food Group sponsoring one of the six courts
‘‘They’ve always been very keen on the project ... just needed to see where their best fit was,’’ Mr Malcolm said.
Milligans managing director Joseph Paton visited the site yesterday and said it was a great project to support.
Mr Malcolm said five of the six courts had already been sponsored and people were ‘‘queuing up’’ to nab the sixth.
