Lake Tekapo's Alpine Springs skating complex was ready. Ice hockey and curling were already under way, and a new 69m-long magic carpet carrying visitors to the top of 150m long by 50m wide snow tubing slope would open as soon as snow arrived.
Ohau Snow Fields opened on July 1 with its traditional pirate night at the Lake Ohau Lodge.
Tonight is the 25th anniversary of the Irish Hooley at Ohau and special Irish Winter Olympics.
Roundhill Ski Area will open this weekend and the season will be celebrated on July 30, with a giant slalom race.
"Dress in lycra, fluoro and leg warmers on August 6 for the legendary Roundhill 80s day, complete with hilarious water jumps and entertainment," Ms Blake said.
Roundhill's extreme Surface Ski Who's your Daddy Downhill competition takes place on August 13 and will feature the mountain's Heritage Express Rope Tow, which is not for the faint-hearted.
Also on August 13, the Ben Ohoo Highland Games and Scottish Night would be held at the Lake Ohau Lodge.
"They've got all things Scottish going on, with plenty of tartan, haggis, bagpipes," she said.
Skiers and riders can get involved at the Soul Surf and Skate Snow Jam on August 20, at Roundhill, with a slopestyle competition Central Park.
The Ohau Snow Ball fancy-dress party will be held on September 10 at Lake Ohau Lodge, rolling into the next day.
The interfield junior ski-race series takes place on September 10 and 11 at Roundhill, and the Dynastar Chill Gromfest on September 17.
On September 17, Mt Dobson Ski Area will celebrate the Rugby World Cup with its 20-Below Rugby in the Snow seven-a-side tournament, with men's and mixed teams competing.
To celebrate the end of the season retro-style, Hot Dog Day will be held on September 25, the closing day for Ohau snow fields.
