Sealing the track into the Oamaru Community Gardens is under way, completing a project about five years in the making.
Costing almost $9000, the all-weather driveway will give easier access to the community gardens on top of a ridge above Chelmer St, especially for its older volunteers. Previously, the only access was by four-wheel-drive on some occasions.
The project was funded by grants and assistance from the Alexander McMillan Trust, Community Trust of Otago and Whitestone Contracting.
The gardens also has a new environmentally friendly composting toilet and building.
