Market starting

A weekly farmers market will start at Palmerston on Saturday, February 19, in the Waihemo Lodge car park on Stronsa St, next to the East Otago Veterinary clinic, in the town centre.

Spokeswoman Rowan Holt, of Palmerston, said 12 confirmed stallholders would sell organic dairy products, fresh vegetables, fruit, plants, flour, seafood, meat, cakes, coffee, preserves, sauces, honey and herbs.

A cooking school would also be held and stall sites were still available, Ms Holt said.

The market, from 8.30am to 12.30pm, will be opposite the Palmerston Railway Station, giving passengers on the Seasider train, which runs each Saturday morning from Dunedin, time to check out all the stalls.
