An occupant of a car that rolled after leaving the road at Lindis Pass has been taken to Cromwell Medical Centre by ambulance with moderate injuries.
A helicopter was dispatched shortly after the 3.25pm crash, but was stood down.
A police spokeswoman said a Nissan with two occupants left the road on the Omarama side of the pass on State Highway 8, entered a field and rolled, trapping one of the occupants.
She said there were reports of ice on the highway in the area.
A St John spokesman said the second occupant, who suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene.
