Two Oamaru men have caught the attention of police for repeat offending since Friday.
At 8.50pm on Christmas Day, a 20-year-old Oamaru man, driving a Nissan Sentra on Thames St, was clocked speeding at 83kmh in the 50kmh zone.
Acting Sergeant Blair Corlet said when the man was stopped by police, he recorded a breath-alcohol level of 497mcg.
He was forbidden to drive, charged with drink-driving, and is to appear in the Oamaru District Court in January.
He was stopped by police again less than four hours later, at 12.20am on December 26, and recorded an excess breath-alcohol level of 314mcg.
"That's a ticketable offence [under 400mcg], but he was charged with driving while forbidden because he had been forbidden to drive [after] drink-driving,'' Acting Sgt Corlet said.
He also received an infringement notice for speeding.
On Saturday, police stopped a 19-year-old Oamaru man in Weston after he was clocked speeding at 91kmh in a 50kmh zone.
The man, driving a Subaru Legacy, was processed for drink-driving, and recorded an excess breath-alcohol level of 280mcg.
He was also charged with dangerous driving and is to appear in court in January.
Then, at 4.05am yesterday, he was again stopped by police on Thames Highway.
"The car was impounded and he has been summonsed to court for driving while suspended,'' Acting Sgt Corlet said.
