The Cape Wanbrow reserve above the Oamaru Harbour has been closed temporarily because of the danger from trees damaged by wind.
The public reserve is popular for walking, exercising dogs and mountain biking and also has World War 2 vintage coastal defence gun emplacements, along with spectacular views over Oamaru, the harbour and sea.
Waitaki District Council communications officer Michelle Beer said the reserve would be closed for four weeks from Monday so wind-damaged and dangerous trees could be removed.
"Due to the nature of the work, there will be no public access until work is completed," she said.
