Sellout show for Waikouaiti group

The Waikouaiti Amateur Music and Drama Society's show, Opening Night, has sold out.

All tickets had been sold for the four performances of the musical drama, to be held on August 26-29 at the new East Otago Events Centre at Waikouaiti, society spokesman Les Pullar, of Waikouaiti, said.

The committee considered increasing the number of tickets for each performance but this would have created difficulties for catering and possibly spoiled the intimate nature of a theatre restaurant.

The tickets have been limited to a hundred for each performance.

Another alternative was to extend the season for the show by a further one or two performances.

But this was ruled out for the benefit of the cast, who will have practised solidly three times a week for 12 weeks with two dress rehearsals and then four full performances, Mr Pullar said.

Gladys Hope is the director of Opening Night, ably assisted by Daphne Burnett-Roberts, as musical director, and Robyn Sinclair, as choreographer.
