Two people are dead after separate crashes in Otago overnight.
The first person died in a single-vehicle crash near Heriot, in the Clutha district, about 11pm.
Police said it appeared the vehicle left the road and crashed into a paddock between Switzers Rd and Moncurs Rd. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigated and was cleared by about 1am.
Meanwhile, a man is dead following a crash in North Otago early today.
Police said the man's vehicle crashed into a bridge on Wainakarua Rd, between Herbert-Hampden Rd and Woodburn Rd, about 1.50am.
It appeared no other vehicle was involved.
Police are investigating.
