Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust chairman Graeme Clark raises a new Union Jack over the 1882 Category 1 Smith's Grain Store as Oamaru begins its annual celebration of Victoriana.

The grain store once stored up to 30,000 sacks of grain and had housed the Oamaru Mail's offices and printing works. It is now the home of the Grainstore Gallery. It was designed by English-born James Johnston.

Bought by the trust in 1989, the building is one of 16 owned by the trust in Oamaru's collection of Victorian-era buildings.

Oamaru's Victorian Heritage Celebrations continue until Sunday.
